About Us

Our son was born extra excited. He would rock furiously in his bassinet, bounce a head higher than the other kids in preschool, and often break into what we called his "Happy Dance." It wasn't until he started jerking his head until his neck hurt that we realized he might be moved by more than just the Spirit.

Almost as soon as he was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, his tics worsened. His body would twitch, his eyes would roll back into his head, and he would grunt or squeal--none of which made for an easy time in school. Despite this, he's always been kind, gentle, and had a heart for God. We found out exactly how much when he had to do a project at youth group. His answer to his greatest blessing from God: his Tourette's.

Still, he struggles to get others to understand his journey. Every time he enters a new classroom (or team or club or new situation), he has to explain his condition and hope others are willing to listen. He's not a huge fan of teachers asking him to give a speech at the front of the classroom, so he started making notecards to hand out.

One day, while playing the card game War at our kitchen table, he had the idea to mix teachable information about acceptance and his love of God into the game, and BRAVER was born.

In a world where it often seems like right is wrong and wrong is right, it’s not easy to open up to others about our faith. We're hoping that this little card game and the power of Scripture might provide regular encouragement for you and those you love so that we can all be BRAVER.
